Getting used to this thing

Oh me.  I am still trying to get used to this blog.  Can't decide on a design, can't decide what gadgets I want on here.  Too many choices.  I think I just want to be able to type up some thoughts here and there and put some pictures up.  That'll do me.

I smell Fall coming.  Today it only got to about 75 degrees here and there was a perfect breeze and a beautifully bright blue sky.  It was lovely.  Reminds me that my favorite season is just around the corner.  With my favorite season also comes my 8 year wedding anniversary.  I remember carefully choosing the date that I thought would have the most perfect weather.  Of course, October in Nashville is not quite as crisp and cool as I would have ideally liked but since I got married indoors, we were good to go!  :)

EIGHT years. Where did that time go?  I still remember it like it was yesterday and I am still crazy about Jason like I was back then.  I still look at him and can hardly believe that I got so lucky.  Gosh, love is so good!!

We made these perfect little people, too.....

This is happy.

Home Sweet Home

Well, I am home from St. Paul.  It was a lovely trip filled with good food, relaxation, exercise and exploration.  Perfect as far as I can tell.  While I was there, my new phone, the DROID X, was delivered to my hotel.  My Motorola droid had died the day before I left.  Hence, they upgraded me.  Boy, am I glad they did.

Let me preface this by saying that I remember life without cell phones.  I never had one in college.  Didn't even have one until maybe 3 years after I graduated (so, the year 2000).  And now, they are individual little computers that you can literally use for EVERYTHING.  Best feature for me--the cameras.  Wow.  All the features and effects you can do are so amazing and so, so wonderful for documenting life.  There is nothing I enjoy more than taking pictures of my kids and family.  The new phone is surely making that joy even more profound.

Check it out:

This first group of pics were all taken with the "retro camera" app.  It's really fun, but hard to get your picture framed properly sometimes...hence the strange composition.  Obviously, some look like old Polaroid pictures, and then I used the Holga camera for the rest.

This second group I used the Vignette app.  This app is really gong to be my "go to" app.  It has every effect, feature, frame, etc. that you could ever possibly come up with.  Also, you can import pictures you have taken with other apps on your phone and make changes to them in vignette as well.  You can really make any picture extraordinary with this application.  I am in love.

It's super easy to take great pictures when you have beautiful subjects.  However, I really love all the choices you get on this Droid X camera.  Makes the whole adventure even more fun!!

Adventuring......

Someone let mama out of the HOUSE--ALONE!  Jason had a business trip up in St. Paul this week.  A couple weeks ago we realized it would be a perfect opportunity for us to have some time away.  He works during the day, of course.  Hence, I have been spending the day reading, swimming, exploring the town, and taking pictures.  It's heaven.  Just a quiet little getaway!

Last night we had the most fantastic sushi at a little place around the corner here called Sakura (http://www.sakurastpaul.com/).  It was the best sushi I have ever had.  So delicious and even more important to me....BEAUTIFULLY presented!

Not sure what we're doing tonight.  I am sure it will involve wine and dinner, and more exploring.

Funny how decadent this feels.  Once you are a parent, "time" is decadent.  Time alone is truly an indulgance.  Feels fattening and juicy!!

Can't wait to see my little sweeties tomorrow though.  They are delectable little morsels themselves.

Starting a blog

My life is generally pretty boring.  It's relatively domestic in nature, simple, happy.  I'm blogging because there are so many moments that I never want to forget.  I want to document thoughts, feelings, memories.  The things that matter.  Time passes so quickly and with my children growing like they are, the only thing I can do is write it down....  not miss a moment.

I'm also blogging because I love taking pictures.  This is a place where I can  put some photos as well.  This blog is for me.  If anyone else wants to read it, they are certainly welcome to do so.  However, the main purpose is for me to remember.  We are in the sweetest time of life right now.  It's magical and beautiful.  It's the meat of life and I don't want to miss a thing.
